Bella Aura Gentle Purifying Cleanser

You had probably seen me tested a lot of pH on my IG page. I do enjoy the low pH life because it’s what keeping my skin healthy since it doesn’t disrupt skin’s acid mantle. Our skin’s pH can be vary between 4.5-6.5. I tend to stay with a cleansers with a neutral pH or lower around our skin pH (pH scale is from 0-14 in which 7 is neutral, below 7 is acidic and above 7 is alkaline). You don’t want to be at either end of the spectrum; best to stick close to our skin’s pH 4.5-6.5.

I really love foaming cleansers but often time they are too drying. Think more foam the higher the pH more drying. That’s why I always get excited when I found one that my skin like! This bring me to Bella Aura Gentle Purifying Cleanser!

What is it?

It’s a emulsion cleanser that turns lightly foam when mixed with water.

Ingredients list:

Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Diethylhexyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate, Cereus Grandiflorus (Cactus) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Peel Oil, Nigella Sativa Seed Oil, Hydroxyacetophenone, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, 1,2 Hexanediol (looks perfect when run through cosdna)

Normally I don’t break down every single ingredient but since this is a short one. Let’s take a look!

Water: use here as a solvent

Cocamidopropyl Betaine: it’s a surfactant derived from Coconut oil. Normally use in a cleansing system (shampoo, wash, cleanser etc.) there are two to three surfactants combined together. So here cocamidopropyl betaine is used as a secondary surfactant for cleansing. It helps build viscosity and offers a smooth feel. It does provide good foaming. Normally it’s is use as a secondary surfactant to anionic surfactant to improve the foaming action and reduces irritations.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil: Argan is very popular in the skincare industry, no need for introduction. It’s used for skin conditioning, emollient. The oil from Argan tree kernels contains about 45-55% oleic acid, 28-36% linoleic acid, 10-15% palmitic acid and 5-7% stearic acid.

Diethylhexyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate: often referred to as Dioctyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate, is an anionic surfactant. This works together with cocamidopropyl betaine to create a gentle cleansing system. See above.

Cereus Grandiflorus (Cactus) Extract: Cactus flower contains antioxidants, has astringent properties and can contribute to cell renewal which helps keep the skin looking fresh.

Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Peel Oil: AKA Neroli or orange blossom. It helps tone and tighten skin, while improving the appearance of blemishes, stretch marks, spider veins, and scars. The scent is also very uplifting, helps relieve tension and worried mind.

Nigella Sativa Seed Oil: AKA black cumin seed oil or Fennel Flower. Black cumin seed came from Egypt, is mentioned throughout The Bible, and was used with ancient royalty. It has a peppery-scented that may support emotional balance and stability.

Hydroxyacetophenone:  use as a preservative booster has antioxidant and soothing properties.

Caprylhydroxamic Acid: Also know as CHA. It is an amino acid derived from coconut oil. CHA is a preservative and broad spectrum anti-fungal agent. CHA, unlike many other more common preservatives, is very effective at neutral pH levels. It is also a chelating agent of iron ions; low iron environments show lower levels of mold growth. CHA is thought to be a replacement to parabens. Bella Aura Gentle Purifying Cleanser hits the spot with a pH of 7.
